Економічне становище єврейського населення українських губерній смуги осілостінаприкінці ХІХ – на початку ХХ століття

Вступ. Наприкінці ХІХ століття одним зі способів змусити євреїв Російської імперії зректись віри батьків вбачалось створення умов, що значно ускладнювали їхню економічну діяльність і навіть робили неможливою деякі її види. Заробляти на життя євреям доводилось в умовах економічного антисемітизму, що набирав обертів упродовж ХІХ століття. У даній статті досліджено зайнятість єврейського населення у структурі економіки, визначено розмір прибутків євреїв і з'ясовано, як він впливав на рівень їхнього життя наприкінці ХІХ–на початку ХХ століття.
Методи. Методологічною основою дослідження є принципи історизму, системності і об'єктивності, що дозволили розглянути поставлені питання у відповідному історичному контексті. Було застосовано комплекс загальнонаукових та спеціальних історичних методів: індукції і дедукції, аналогії, синтезу, порівняння, статистичний метод, а також історико–генетичний, історико–системний методи.
Результати. У кінці ХІХ–на початку ХХ століття єврейське населення переважно продовжувало займатися традиційними видами економічної діяльності: торгівлею та посередництвом, ремеслом, орендою, лихварством. Невеликій частині євреїв вдавалось розширювати виробництво. Упродовж ХІХ століття з'явились євреї–колоністи, які на зламі століть займались сільським господарством доволі вправно і ефективно. У зв'язку з обмеженим доступом до освіти і державної служби, дуже мала частина євреїв займалась “вільними професіями”.
Висновки. Чисельність заможних представників єврейського населення була мізерною у порівнянні з переважною більшістю одновірців, що намагалися звести кінці з кінцями в умовах намагання влади Російської імперії вирішити “єврейське питання”, у тому числі шляхом обмежень і заборон, що стосувались економічної діяльності. Виняток становили нечисельні представники торгово-промислових і банківських кіл.
